Found in Bolivia (except for the Andes mountains), Paraguay, the centre of Brazil, Uruguay and the centre and north of Argentina. It migrates northwards in winter. It lives in woods and other areas with trees, and does not shy away from human presence (these photos were taken in my garden). It’s about 9 cm long, with the beak measuring 2 cm. The bird in these photos is a male.
