Spotted in Laguna del Diario in Maldonado, Uruguay.

The Magnificent Frigatebird is about 1 metre long and has a wingspan of more than 2 metres. Males have a red throat poach, that females lack. Females are black with a white chest, and juveniles also have a white head. So the bird in this series is a female and a juvenile. They mainly eat fish, and attack other birds to force them to disgorge their meals. They always eat in the air. It spends days and nights on the wing, with an average ground speed of 10 km/h. The only other bird known to spend days and nights on the wing is the Common Swift.
